In the automated logistics warehouse of wafer raw materials of a well-known large-scale semiconductor manufacturer, the overall solution of automated three-dimensional warehouse of wafer/raw materials independently designed by SRT has been officially put into use, and four latent AGVs complete the warehousing and discharging operations of wafer raw materials in an orderly manner according to the demand instructions.
By making full use of the three-dimensional storage space, SRT realizes the integrated and unified scheduling of semi-automatic storage and picking for employees, and greatly optimizes the picking time and efficiency.
Project background
At present, in the face of the rapid development of the emerging consumer electronics market and technology industries such as automotive electronics, the scale of the semiconductor industry has grown rapidly in recent years. As an "old" listed company in the semiconductor industry that integrates chip design, wafer manufacturing and packaging and testing business, this well-known semiconductor manufacturer is actively improving the intelligent management level of the whole process of wafer raw materials, hoping to improve the productivity and comprehensive management efficiency of enterprises by increasing the utilization rate of vertical space.
In March 2023, the customer started the construction project of an automated logistics warehouse for wafer raw materials. The specific needs of construction mainly focus on:
01 Resolve the low warehouse operation efficiency
In the past, manual picking needed to run repeatedly between shelves, and the time line of "indirect operation" was extended, resulting in low manual picking efficiency and low picking accuracy.
02 High storage and high flexibility coexist
The existing warehouse uses partition shelf storage, which is low in height, many channels, and serious waste of space, and is not conducive to responding to potential immediate expansion needs.
03 Minimize the difficulty of inventory management
The business involves a variety of commodities such as wafer packets, 8-inch wafer raw materials, and 12-inch wafer raw materials, and the ToB and ToC business are mixed operations. The selection is highly complicated, and the inventory needs to be accurately controlled to ensure the accuracy and real-time data.
Under the premise of fully meeting the requirements of the above projects, how to achieve rapid deployment and reduce investment costs to maximize the utilization of warehouse space has become the first consideration of SRT.

Relying on strong comprehensive program construction capabilities and rich project experience, the final customer reached cooperation with SRT after comparing multiple sets of automated warehouse solutions and data model calculation. The project was quickly deployed in less than four months and successfully went live in late July. At present, SRT wafer/raw material automated three-dimensional warehousing has been successfully completed acceptance, helping customers realize the rapid transformation of three-dimensional warehousing from scratch, from the traditional "people looking for goods" to "goods looking for people".
Project proposal
SRT makes full use of the warehouse space for warehouse expansion, 300 square meters of wafer/raw material automated warehouse can accommodate 17 shelves, each shelf loaded with 30 bins, maintaining the efficiency of box picking. It also includes AGV system, WMS warehouse location management system, loading and unloading manipulator, vision, etc., to realize the automatic storage of wafer product raw materials and hierarchical loading and unloading, and to provide high standard inspection results for the logistics automation of the entire industrial park in the later stage. The SRT raw material automatic warehouse selection scheme adopted this time has shortened the walking distance of employees by more than 50%, reduced the labor intensity of employees, increased the efficiency of shelving and picking nearly 4 times, and the accuracy rate has reached 99.99%, maximizing the efficiency of goods entering and leaving the warehouse and the accuracy of goods sorting. The scheme is simple to operate, the system is easy to use, and employees can be trained in a short time. At the same time, the design and operation process of the program has fully considered ergonomics, focusing on the comfort and health of employees.

For example, the original warehouse picker needs at least tens of thousands of steps to run back and forth all day, accounting for about 50%-70% of the working hours of the whole day.
